Getting that summer body is something we talk about for SO long, then all of a sudden, sun’s out buns out, and we’re not ready!
Never fear, our Cancun Collection busy girl guide is here to make sure you’re looking and feeling your best as you prep to hit the beach this summer.
BE A GOALIE
First thing’s first – whenever you want to make a big change, you need to set goals. You’ll want to create long term goals (ie: lose 10 pounds) and short term goals (eat veggies with every meal for a week). The short term goals are important because you’ll be able to complete them quicker, which will motivate you to keep going. These “small goal” baby steps will add up big time, allowing you to complete your longer term goals. Winning!
THE BUDDY SYSTEM
One of the best ways to accomplish your goals and stick to your plan, is to have an accountability buddy who’s coming along this journey with you. This could be a friend or partner, a family member, or even your work collegues. The idea is to have someone that you check in with regularly, to vent about challenges, share your successes, and compare notes about how everything’s going. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Don’t you wish you could lose weight while you sleep? Well good news – you kinda can. Studies show that people who sleep less than seven hours per night tend to be heavier and have a more difficult time losing weight than those who get more sleep. There are several reasons for this but one notable one is that lack of sleep can slow down your metabolism – not the dream, right? It might mean turning in a little early so you’re still on time for work, but if you ask us – totally worth it. Plus, your skin will thank you as well. Zzzzzzzz….
We know we’re supposed to keep our skin moisture-rich, so we slather on all kinds of goodies to make it so. And guess what? Same goes for our insides. Staying hydrated is not only great for your skin, but it’s also awesome for your bod. Make sure to drink a big glass of water every morning upon waking up. You’ve (hopefully) been asleep for 8 hours – your body is thirsty! Bonus points if it’s not freezing cold – aim for room temperature or even warm (tip: leave the water pitcher on the counter), and add a little lemon to create a mini daily detox program for yourself.
Our favorite tip for getting a head start on that beach body: a kitchen makeover. Nope, we’re not talking about new wallpaper, more like, toss out all the bad stuff so you’re not tempted to eat it. What counts as “bad stuff”? Think: refined sugars and flours (cookies, cake, pasta, white bread), anything fried (don’t forget to clean out the freezer) and alcohol (yup.) If you get it out and keep it out, you’re not going to eat it, and you’re going to make better choices with every meal. Try to stick to it for a month, and try to eat clean outside of the house as well. And see how you feel. Pretty quickly, you’ll notice that you’ll have more energy, less bloat (hallelujah!) and you’ll start seeing the results in the mirror as well.
WALK IT OFF
Sure, hitting the gym is great, but if you’re just starting out with a fitness routine, walking is one of the best ways to get into shape. It’s easy on your body, it gets you outside for some fresh air, and, hey – it’s free! Aim for an hour a day: in the morning, on your lunch break, in the evening. You can even sneak in walks here and there throughout your day – get off the train a little sooner or park your car way further away than you need to. Better yet, leave the car at home and skip the train altogether if you can, and get that blood pumping!
KEEP IT UP
Hands down, the top tip to keep in mind is to not give up. Yes there will be that accidental cookie and that day you forget to drink enough water. Or maybe you fall into a tub of ice cream and eat the whole thing. The important thing is that you get back on the horse and keep moving forward. Keep making good choices, keep loving yourself, and keep taking care of the awesome human you are.
We’ve all been there… ogling someone’s gorgeously overflowing acai bowl or chia pudding on Instagram. Or staring wistfully into the rainbow colors of a kale salad, brimming with all kinds of wholesome goodness (#foodporn for days).
We know the afternoon satisfaction that a frothy matcha latte brings to our lives, or the glorious richness of literally anything with cacao in it. And don’t even get us started on coconuts…

Let’s start with the simple, beautiful acai berry. For eating pretty, we have our delicious and oh so good-looking acai bowls and smoothies. You can also use acai powder to “cook” up some raw acai bites (how amazing do these look?)
Acai berries are higher in antioxidants than blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries (though all are amazing for you – and what a taste combo when they’re eaten altogether!)

Do you even self-care?
It’s a pretty hot topic these days, but what does it mean to be actively “self-caring”? The answer is that it means something different for every one of us – and it’s different for us day by day and moment by moment, depending on how chaotic (or chilled) our day might be.
Sure, self-care could be a luxurious day at the spa or a vacation at a 5- star hotel in the Caribbean (yes please, sign us up!) but more often it’s going to manifest as little ways throughout the day that we can check in with ourselves and make sure we’re quite literally “taking care.”
Self – care could be remembering to take a deep breath when we realize that (oops) we haven’t done that in a while. It could be getting off the train a stop early to walk a bit more and get some fresh air. Or allocating 10 minutes in your busy day for a mini meditation sesh. It could be setting a routine to get our skin, body or mind ready for the day ahead. It could be letting something go.
Whatever it is for you – for this moment – it’s hella important. The way we see it, if you don’t care for yourself, it’s going to be crazy hard to care for other people in your life. It’s that old airplane safety demonstration at play IRL: if you don’t put your oxygen mask on first, you’re not going to be able to help the person sitting next to you, right?
